• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey all a new member here... I have a CP 200 radio that suddenly stopped receiving on all channels. I tried transmitting with it at the Fire Hall and it will transmit on the primary (#!) channel. The thing is my son had carried it upstairs for me and since then it won t pick anyting up. No he did not drop it.

The reason I ask is I had a Motorola Vista before and it had a series of two buttons to press at the same time to reset it.

Does the CP 200 have a similar sequence to press to reset or does it need to be serviced.

Thanx
Steve

Check to make sure the priority function was not accidently enabled

or

Perhaps one of the two programmable buttons was pressed and another
function enabled

How can I check this, I was just issued this radio 2 weeks ago and I am still a bit of a virgin with its operation.

cp200

they are funny beasts.

Are you getting a two beep self test pass when you power up?

If you are getting a "bonk" when you turn the radio on, the radio needs to be serviced.

Do you use a remote speaker/microphone? The radios audio accessory ports are, well not exactly durable. Try flexing the jack back and forth and see if you get audio. Could also be the internal speaker is bad. I would highly recommend using the audio accessory retainers that are available to protect the jack if a RSM is used full time.

Sorry but I do not have the user guide(which I assumed you have) so start pushing buttons and experimenting with the radio or perhaps someone else here can advise you.

Did he carry it by the antenna?? The lug can break off the board.

Also, the two side buttons are CPS programmable. Depending on what the client orders, the buttons do different things but resetting the radio is NOT one of them.
