• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Can I get some suggestions on dealers who are willing to sell a single brand new APX 8000? I'm sure most don't want to be bothered with what they would probably classify as a trivial sale but there has to be a few. Also as the purchaser would I be able to get the CPS with it or do I need to go through the motions and set up an account? Please dispense with questions such as why do you want one or do you know how much they cost? Why is because I want one and the cost is expected to be upwards of $8-10k. Just need some good solid info. Thanks

I am kinda curious how much an APX8000HXE would cost ( with all bands, WiFi, Bluetooth, FPP etc ).

I’d guess and say well north of 9 boxes of ziti. You know the old saying - if you have to ask how much something is - you can’t afford it to begin with hahaha

I priced out an APX 8000 all-band with trunking, AES, TDMA, FPP, and a few other features and it ended up a little over $11,500 and that was with Tennessee's contract pricing. I'd imagine more like $14k without the state discount.

Wow that is insane !!!

It almost makes the tag-less APX8000 models on brokenstolenradios.com for like $4200 almost worth it.

I love my APX800XE. Great radio. Been a Motorola guy for over 40 years. BUT..... Unless you truly need all the capabilities of trunking, phase I & II, my humble opinion is that it is a waste of money. Take a good look at Kenwood. Although they don’t have a multi band handheld, they are great. Quality, reliability, analog, P25 and DMR in one radio. Just an consideration to take a look.

I will never touch an APX Next. The Google Android operating system is highly, highly insecure. I hear the Chinese are already into deployed APX Next’s. So, APX 800XE if you want to spend the $ is a better bet than the Next. We all love Motorola and we have good reason to over the last 50 years. But it’s not the same anymore.

I’ve been buying M for almost three decades, my last purchase (and probably final for a new radio) being my APX6K which I love.
I’ve had most, all bought new but the pricing has gone astronomical. It’s always been high (as is the quality) but Its come to the point where the price is no longer tangible. Would I rather buy a Harley or a radio? Lol. Asa previous poster said; it’s not the same anymore.
