The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My fire department recently started using the Motorola Fire Ground System with our radio's (XTS 2500). We are trying to use the Fire Ground system along with MDC identifers. I am being told that since the Fire Ground system is a digital that the MDC is turned off when this is enabled. I would like to be able to use both options so that MDC identifers are transmitted all the time. Has anyone had any exprince with this Fire Ground system?

Thanks,
Mike

We have little info from you on your fd communications system.

You need to reference from the RR database which communications system(a link would be nice).

If it is digital then there is no MDC signaling used. MDC is only possible to use on analog
communications.

Without more info I can not speculate any further.

I'm Not sure about those radios, but no in digital mode you can"t use MDC signalling as the radio uses a digital identifier, if the radio operates in an analog mode for fireground you may be able to program or enable the MDC signalling system along with pre or post tone if you want it. I've worked on xts 3000 radios before but never set up anything in analog mode, also if radios are setup for p25 op. the analog feature may be disabled.

If i remember correctly we did set up mototrbo radios like that, digital for dispatch and analog with identifier for fireground.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8530/5.0.0.973 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Without knowing details of the system, other than what is on the brochure, the info might be passed with MDC codes. That would be adapting them to another use, and other MDC applications would not be able to process them.

Just set one up from scratch. When you choose a personality that has FG enabled it will not send mdc ID's. The long and short of it is the normal operating mode is this
radio keys up in astro and sends id and other data
radio switches to analog for voice transmission
radio then reverts to astro and sends more data and ID again

The radio will not do MDC on a fireground channel set up for the fireground software operation, all signaling goes out in digital mode.
