• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Where does a person find older updates to firmware? From what I understand there is no way to get it from motorola so where does a person get it? Specifically CDM1250, XTS5000, XTL 2500. Same question for Kenwoods NX-210 and NX-700.

Thanks

You don't have to be a dick. Maybe I didn't find the same things on Google as you. Maybe im in a different country and our useless government blocks some things. Can't that be the answer to everything on here? So why do you participate in a forum if everything can be found on Google. Maybe next time just keep scrolling

No hard feelings intended. But you have to understand how stringent Motorola is about these things. THAT is why I gave the answer I gave. Not to bust your chops.

Maybe this site has rules that you're bending? Rules that the responder was respecting? I'm no expert, but I'll put my money on that.

There is nothing wrong with asking where to obtain copyright-protected radio firmware or copyright-protected radio programming software. However, we do not allow posts selling, reselling. requesting, or trading software that was originally sold at retail. This is to include programming software of any type, registration keys, general software applications, operating systems, etc.

In other words, if someone says "where can I get CDM1250 programming software?", that's OK.

If someone says "can someone send me a copy of the CDM1250 programming software?", that's not OK.

Also, how about we all take the snarkyness down a notch or two? I quote from:

"Last, but certainly not least, take a deep breath before you post a message. Could someone misconstrue your message as an attack on their character? Could someone misinterpret what you said as an insult? Many subtle items can be lost in written communications, so be sensitive to the fact that some people may view your message differently than what your intention was."

I get requests for firmware from many of our customers, since (Motorola especially) only posts the most recent release, and sometimes not even that. We keep our own archive of ALL firmware releases for all the brands we sell (and some others too) just so we have access to it. If anyone has dealer relations, they should ALWAYS download and archive any software and firmware releases as they come out, as this stuff does go away on dealer sites. In this day of multiple releases per year, and fleet managers attempting to maintain SOME form of continuity in their fleets, this becomes a problem quickly.

Experimenters and hobby techs should do similar. SAVE every hunk of info you can when you see it, it may save your butt when you have that weird EU radio you want to flash.

Can you please post the link where to register for an account at? I'm badly needing to update the firmware on my NTN2571, and have been striking out left and right with regard to locating where to obtain the firmware from.

First off the easiest solution is to go to your local Motorola dealer and have them do it.

But if you manage to apply for an account at Motorola Solutions and are granted access, the Accessory Programming Software is what you need. It's a free download from MOL. (Motorola Online, the legacy site)

I am not sure if new users are given access to the old site or not but it's still there:
APS-MCW_Pod.PNG

The firmware looks like it hasn't been updated in awhile, so you probably don't need to update it. But the APS will let you change button assignments which is nice.
