To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good morning,
I programmed an GP300 UHF (P94YPC20C2xx) and I need change the channel spacing (output audio is low, people can hear me but very low) I am looking in the CPS (DOS version) but I don't see that option.
Could somebody guide me in the process to change the channel spacing?

Thank you

It's not an option that's changed in RSS. The models were either 25KHz or they were 12.5KHz. They were not selectable.

If it sounds too quiet, then it's either a 12.5KHz only model, or it needs to have the deviation adjusted.

@mmckenna thank you for reply. Could you please show me what is the correct RSS menu option to modify the deviation?

F2: SERVCIE Radio Alignment
F2: LEVEL set adjustment
System Deviation=2.5khz
PL Deviation=500

or

F2: SERVCIE Radio Alignment
F3: DEVIATION adjustment
Relative value=22

Thank you

Not something to adjust unless you have a service monitor.
Been a long time since I touched on of those, so I don't want to guess at it.

Might be better if you give us the model number off the back of the radio. That way we can help you figure out if it's a 12.5KHz radio or a 25KHz radio.
Cranking up the deviation on a 12.5KHz radio isn't going to make it work on 25KHz...

Choose F2 to go to service.
Then F2 again for Level Set
Then RETURN twice to highlight SYSTEM DEVIATION
Then the up arrow once to change from 2.5 to 5 khz
RETURN once more
Then F10 threes out of the service mode to the MAIN MENU
Then F3 to GET/SAVE and F8 to program the radio
You should be able to get both narrow band and wide band in that radio.
What you won't get is programming to most of the NARROW band frequency steps.
I have done this MANY times, and I just tried it on one of my GP300's so I know it works.
You really should also set deviation correctly ( or verify it ) with a deviation meter or service monitor as mentioned above.

Oh, you also might want to start over and read the radio to make sure it changed to 5 khz.
I have seen GP's where it took a couple of tries to get it to take.
For what it is worth, I usually also change the PL deviation from the 700 hz to 500 hz.
It defaults to 700 in wideband, but nearly everything anymore will decode the 500 hz of PL deviation just fine.

Thank you for your assistance.
After multiple attempts I was able to change from 2.5 to 5.0, however issues still, actually, I am open the repeater but no audio at all.
PL deviation is 500, this is the high value for this field.

I will continue trying, again, thank you

Can you hear audio on a simplex frequency?
Could be the mic element has gone bad.
They got ruined by water sometimes.
Also the little flexible circuit that plugs into the radio and goes to the speaker and mic is prone to breakage.
Can usually be repaired with simple small wire jumpers.
