I have a Sonim XP8. It actually has three PTT buttons.

You can read here a post from N1DAS who has the simplex XPand accessory.

I haven't bought a remote speaker microphone, yet, but they sure do exist.

The battery certainly is end user removable. I simply charge with a USB-C cable.

A friend of mine has the Motorola Lex L11.

There had been some concern that the programmable PTT buttons would not work for some apps. That issue may have been corrected or the post may have been erroneous.

Nate has displayed photographs of it paired with the APX.

I do recall reading that there are, indeed, Bluetooth remote speaker microphones for the Motorola Lex L11 and I also read that there are a couple of battery sizes.

Although the Motorola Lex L11 is meant for AT&T/FirstNet, he was able to get it to work with Verizon.

I guess as far as which one you should go with, the Motorola Lex L11 will pair with the APX line and Sonim won't. If that is a deal breaker, then the decision is simple.

What feature(s) are most important to you? They are both rugged, both can swap out a battery easily and work with a RSM (Remote Speaker Microphone.)

I just found out about the Ulefone ARMOR 3WT.

It is also rugged and offers dual SIM and off-network simplex analog and digital, 1 watt and 2 watts.

Radioddity also announced an Apple iPhone case that offers a UHF radio. I am not an Apple iPhone guy, but I do think offering a way to communicate when you are out of range of a cell tower is huge.

Thank's for your reply, I was finally able to put my hands on the Sonim and honestly, it's way too big for me. As far as the L11 none of the dealers near me will sell it to me I can find them used, but I am not willing to spend that kind of money for a used phone. Ultimately, I will probably get the Note10+
