While not a Motorola microphone, I did something similar about 20 years ago with a Shure hand held mic. The CB I had at the time had an annoying little square mic that was uncomfortable to hold and use. I tried figuring out the pin out between the two and couldn't get them to work. While the Push to Talk is usually an easy contact closure off the switch, getting the mic part to work was a no-go.
So, what I did was take the little CB mic apart so it was just the cable, mic and the leads that went to the switch. I gutted the Shure mic, except for the PTT switch and put the old CB mic element in side and wired up the PTT switch. I had to get creative with a hot glue gun to hold all the parts in place, but once done, it worked great.
A lot of the Motorola radios have electret microphone elements, and the mic line will have a voltage bias on it, I think 8 volts. CB's usually use a dynamic microphone, so getting the two to interface is usually a considerable amount of work. Sometimes just swapping out the "guts" is a much easier way to do it.
