Motorola Minitor II

I am in need of a fire pager and they are a lot of these on Ebay for good prices. But how much would it cost to have it set to my frequency and tones? The frequency we use is 154.310 and the tones are 1925.0 and 2932.0

Mintor II

I have one mintor II that is a hand me down for about 16 yrs. I got that one when I joined the FD. Works Great!! We have been getting new text message pagers as the 3,4,5 all die out.

The Min I and II need crystals and tone reeds to be installed if they are not currently what you need. The Min III-V are completely computer programmable.


That being said, if I had a choice and could find one on the frequency I needed, I would go with the Min II but I am old school yo'


For the costs of some pagers, you could always get a radio that can decode QCII like the HT1000 and use it like a pager. That is not as convenient to carry around though.

I would suggest atleast a min 3 just because it will be easier to program and less hassle

While were on the subject, I have what may be the dumbest question.(to those familiar)
Do the Minitors HAVE to have tone(reeds OR prog), or can they be carrier SQ? (as in use to monitor the hot stuff w/o embarassing the wife at a nice restauraunt w/ portable?)

Pardon the ignorance. I'm familiar w/ radios, but recently started thinking of Minitors as 1/2ch monitors.

Only the snobbiest of the motosnobs on batlabs would get worked up over that


The Minitor series is designed to also be used in monitor mode where you will hear all traffic as well as "alert mode" where they will be silent until the proper tones are recieved by the pager. That is a difference as they used to also sell the director I & II along with the minitor I & II series that were only tone and voice.


There were a few companies who converted other tone and voice pagers to monitor mode, I remember seeing the keynote used in that fashion.


Yes, I remember and actually carried a keynote tone and voice and a spirit at work, that shows how long ago I used pagers
