• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Brand new and I can't figure out what should be very simple....My 2 units are set identically but do not communicate with each other....nothing... batteries charged, both using same channel and no interference frequency, etc....I even play around with changing both but no luck.... Used 10-20 feet apart nothing... Am I missing something or am I not far away enough? Any insights appreciated before I package them back up and send back to Amazon...Thanks!

yikes...you've already gone over my head..sorry...both devices show the channel (eg1) and interference frequency (0 off).... does that answer the question?

Howdy,

There could be a few things... make sure both units are either on the same 'sub-channel' or 'privacy code' or have it set for 0. You said they're on the same channel, could be that the squelch is too high and isn't opening on the other radio to allow the audio.

Also, make sure that you're not holding the talk button on both units at the same time, you have to let go of it to stop transmitting. Simplex means the unit can only transmit or receive. If you're transmitting you will not be able to receive anything until you stop transmitting.

Or, you could have a bad pair of radios and need to exchange them. Try using them with a different brand of radio on the opposite end to ensure that it's just one bad unit instead of both.

Thanks much for the response...in short, I did find an old set of Motorolas and never thought of simply putting everything on same channel, etc...and turns out that one of the new 350s is in fact faulty. The only one of the 4 that won't work with each other. Thank you for your help.

Glad I could help, now you gotta RMA the set and get a new pair. Also, if you're in the US remember to get your GMRS license unless you're sticking with the FRS channels.
