If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I purchased a VHF PR-1500 that has the 100001-000000-7 flashcode installed. I'm wondering if this is the correct flashcode for the PR and not the XTS?

What model number does the radio think it is?

The PR1500, MT1500, and XTS1500 were  essentially the same radio, just with different feature capabilities

I used to administer a network of PR1500's which were just analog only XTS1500's with a new model number. As mentioned before by K2NEC, these are very similar radios.

Decoded as XTS1500 it comes back with Q806 and H35, decoded as PR1500 it comes back "Invalid" and H35.

The body is a PR1500 but when I check the flashcode tool, it shows 100001-000000-7 as invalid, but it does show valid for the XTS. I'm wondering what the correct flashcode would be for the PR with Astro option?

Thanks. So did Moto use the same codeplug for each radio and varied them based on the options purchased?

What's the model # in the codeplug (not the label)? FC decoding is useless if you are trying to pair it with the incorrect model radio.

I'm guessing you got one of them ones on eBay that the guy has several and states in the description the flash code was upgraded aka garage whacked from one flash code to another to bring it up to conventional digital as he says in the description?

If it's the one listing he got it from I believe the guy more less changed the model to a xts1500 and changed the flash code. He stated in the description it was upgraded to digital conventional more than likely chia petted like mts said the teknishuns do.

Out of curiosity if it's been re flashed to do digital why would you need to be to analog only when you could just set the personalities to analog only or is it lacking something you desire?
The organization I work for inherited a box of them and a few have the digital option. I was curious to know if the flashcode used is the one made for the PR1500 or if the previous organization got creative and installed something not originally intended for the radio. Ideally, I would like to have the correct flashcode (with digital) for the radio.

This is what it decodes to with no compatibility errors.

Decoded by the akardam.net Flashcode Decoder v5
Platform: PM1500
Flashcode: 100001-000000-7

G806: ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation
G48: Conventional Systems Operation

Moto has been known to make custom Flashkeys, for a price, that would change the electronic model # and/or flashcode. They did it for NEXTEL RB radios to make them P25 and 700 MHz capable outside of the original RB agreement. That could have been done here if the codeplug hasn't been tramp stamped.

There appears to be two factory packages for the PR1500 VHF that show Feature Set
MT/PR Analog Cvn Data 000001-002000-5 Q833 MDC1200 Analog Conventional
P25 MDC Conv Data 100001-000000-7 Q811 P25 Digital Conventional

The online decoder showing different can happen, I see what you said. For instance I have a factory XTS1500 that CPS feature set shows only Q574 9600 Baud Trunking, ADP but will decode the full individual features on the online decoders. As the Q574 internally in CPS includes all the others. If I was to try to encode it as it shows in CPS as just Q574, it will also show different. Some things to be aware of on those type radios as they were built/show a little different than the other higher end models. It can also be a giveaway to altered radios vs factory when you see stuff like that.
