Does anyone know how to convert the radio number to TG ID?

I have a list of numbers that are used to program the radios, but don't know how to convert them to DEC TG ID.

These numbers are not HEX.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
WB

If they are for Motorola programming, they ARE HEX.

The expanded (scientific) Windows calculator will work. Just click on HEX, enter the Motorola TGID, and click DEC and it will do the conversion.

If it's a 3600 system, you may need to add a zero on the end of the HEX number to get the conversion to go correctly due to the status bits. It's been a while since I've programmed a 3600 radio. 9600 should convert directly.

Well, if it's a radio like the GTX or the MaxTrac trunked radios, then he's correct. You enter talkgroups in decimal. It's really stupid.

Anyhow, what you do it take the hex given here on the site, enter it into your windows scientific calculator to convert it to decimal. Then enter it in the programming tool... it's pretty easy. HEX 00F= 80015

Ok, It's the hoosier Safe-T system. I'm trying to figure this out for a friend.

It looks like the numbers are:

MOT: TG ID Dec

804073 = 65168 Region D Mutual Aid 3
804074 = 65184 Region D Mutual Aid 2
804075 = 65200 Region D Mutual Aid 1
800834 = 13344 White Co Sheriff Dispatch

How does one use eg. 804073 to arrive at 65168?

Thanks,
wb

Follow this formula:
804073 - 800000 = 4073
4073 * 16 = 65168

Interestingly enough this is where that pesky HEX number comes from.
Strip the "80" off the front, convert what is left to HEX and you have the HEX number used to program the Motorola Radio.
Using the above:
804073 --> striped is 4073 = 0xfe9
Padding that 0xfe9 with a zero on the right makes it: 0xfe90 or 65168 Dec.

DOH!

It was so simple it was complicated.

Thanks All who replied.

I shall chase down an official copy from the powers that be for the entire SAFE-T system and Post all.

Yep. When they are 6-digit numbers, you have to knock off the leading 8 or 7 or whatever the first digit is.
