To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello All,
I have recently programmed my XPR 5550e VHF and I'm having an issue in scan. I'm having trouble getting the digital noise over the analog channels, and basically what's happening is scan is picking up the analog channel with the digital noise and I'm missing the traffic over digital. Has anyone else had this issue with the XPR 5550e? I have had no issues with my XPR 2500 or 4550. I have played around with what settings I know to mess with. Any help and Ideas are appreciated. Yes I know I can either take the analog channel out of scan or nuisance delete it, taking it out of scan is not an option since the analog side is still used, and nuisance deleting the channel every time I start the truck is annoying. Hopefully I've explained the situation well enough. Thanks all.

I'm guessing here that your analog and digital channels are the same frequency, different modes. It sounds like what is happening is that the PL is disabled in the analog mode for whatever reason. If that's the case, the scan will stop on anything that is on the frequency.

If you have monitor mode with the mic off-hook it could do this, though off hook usually stops the scan. Another possibility (and more likely) is the PL Scan setting. On the same screen as your scan list, you should see PL Type with a drop-down menu next to it. If that's set to Disabled, it could be causing your problem.

Setting it to Priority and Non-priority Channel should fix it. It might slow down the scan a bit, but if you only have a few channels in the scan list, you shouldn't notice much difference.

wb1ccp,
Thank you for your info. I went into the General Settings and the Off Hook Disables PL was checked, I unchecked that and everything is working perfect. Wanted to say thanks, I had overlooked that.
