What are your thoughts for those of you who own a XPR7550? I own and use a XTS5000 almost daily as my personal radio. I use 2 things mostly on it the channel announcement feature and a 3rd party bluetooth adapter that has crummy audio since it has a Bluetooth V2.0 chipset. The downside of the XTS5000 is the weight, I carry it in my back pocket and can feel my pants falling down since i'm physically active throughout the day. Is the XPR7550e significantly lighter than the XTS5000?

How the Bluetooth function in this radio in terms of using 3rd part over the counter bluetooth headsets? The manual states it has a V4.0 chipset installed. Does the Bluetooth work well? No issues with audio and disconnecting?

Also is channel announcement a standard feature and does it work similar to how its set up in the xts5000?

I'm seriously considering buying this radio. Thanks in advance.

I own a 7550e. I don’t use Bluetooth, or channel announcement, but it is the best DMR radio available. It is considerably lighter than your 5000. There is a setting in the menu accessed from the keypad that makes the RX audio considerably louder, but then the minimum volume is too loud, so I don’t use it. Great radio though.

bluetooth works great but my biggest complaint is analog has low volume compared to digital. been a good radio. mine I use for ham, commercial simplex and a connect plus system.
Using over the counter Bluetooth headsets not an issue? Also is the Bluetooth capability able to be paired with a phone and radio at the same time via a headset? Using both if needed?

It looks to be more thicker in width compared to the XTS5000 from the pictures I've seen. I've seen slim lithium ion battery, does it sit flush with the back of the radio compared to the standard battery which sticks out?

I use the same one i use for my phone. https://www.jabra.com/bluetooth-headsets/jabra-classic

when you pair the bluetooth will ring. you push the button on it to anwer and it thinks you are on a call. you use the ptt on the radio to transmit. when your paired phone rings you can answer it but you have to pair with the radio again.

I was using the XTS5000 at my Casino in Security it was good. But I then bought a XPR 7550e and I use it every day now over the XTS the Channel announcement works well. And you can do it like on 5000 or have it generic. Say Channel One, Channel 2 and Zone 3. It’s a better non P25 Radio I love it

Programming over Bluetooth works very well. It’s as fast as using the wired cable. For an addition $80 I went ahead and got the “R” version vs the “W” version as it contains well more than $80 in EIDs from the factory.

The 7550 beats the pants off many analog transceivers out there while being the best DMR radio you can buy. Battery life can be a bit weak if you don't have the Hi-cap lithium ion option but other than that all good things to say about mine. Yes you can find audio files with CHAN 1 ZONE 1 just like an XTS. You have to watch out for your entitlements and things for Connect Plus and wide band operation so you don't get burnt when buying one or upgrading your CPS because an entitlement key only works once!
