All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

It's been a while since I've posted on here and I search all over the internet to no end hunting for a solution for this....

At my job we have a Motorola Astro XTL 5000 with added desktop speaker and a desktop microphone. The problem is as we are getting busier it's harder and harder for me to answer on the radio and still be typing among many other things.

What I'm wondering is if anyone can point me in the direction for either the pinout configuration for the front mic connector or the rear accessory connector to make a headset mic or if anyone knows of a headset mic that can work with it at a reasonable price that would be great for an office setting. Looking online all I've found are huge ones that would be used on fire trucks or ambulances. I'm looking more like an office phone type headset hence possibly making one if I could figure out the pinouts for either jack and figure out where to go from there. I'm technically inclined as long as it doesn't involve adding transistors or anything. Basic wiring is fine with me though.

Radio Service?

Don't you have someone who does your radio maintenance for you? Just have them wire it in.....

Most likely they WON'T use the front jack though. There is a 16 pin accsy connector on the back of the radio.

Our radio guy came in & wired our's to operate through our Zertron Consoles.....

All of our radio stuff is done with Mobilcom. They don't like the prices from Mobilcom so they won't even attempt to have them do it as they don't see a need for it. So, I'm stuck doing this on my own.

I did happen to find a pinout diagram of the accessory connector so I'll have to see what I can do from there.

How much money do you have to spend and what kind of headset were you looking to use?

CoV

Money = as little as possible. Basically, I'd be doing this myself since I'm getting no support from the department, however, they are willing to allow me to do it if it doesn't change the radio itself at all.

The type of headset is still up in the air. What I was hoping to do was eventually add something like a 1/4 or 1/8 jack so I could plug different headsets in if needed.

I mainly want it as it's easier to talk then on a table microphone and it will cut out tons of background noise in both talking and listening.
