• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi!

That's a toughie.

Is this a legit radio, or are you just using it as a no-affiliate scanner?

If you're using it as a scanner, I think.... that's how it's supposed to be.

If this is something you are actually talking and receiving on, and it is picking up transmissions, but not unmuting except in scan mode.... there's a few things, but that's kind of a really weird problem.

If your referring to conventional, check your conventional perosnalities, and ensure "and or" is used for type and signalling in mdc. This should resolve the unmuting condition issue. So unmuting will be AND OR and the mdc ensure OR is used.

So basically after thinking make sure you do this to every perosnality and mdc system. In the convenational personalities in the main tab you will see muting conditions type set each perosnality to AND/OR.

Then under the mdc tab in the conventional personality window for them select OR not and.

If you do not do this it may give the original muting issue so ensure all are set according.

AND OR in the main tab
OR in the mdc tab

Another thing to consider is if you have hear clear checked on one personlaity and the rest you don't, while in scan if that personality is associated with those other non hear clear channels it will still hear clear the audio and tx audio. Just something to consider.

Muting AND/OR:

AND means receiver MUST have both carrier AND PL tone to un mute.

OR means the receiver will mute on loss of either PL tone OR carrier.

STD/STD is the default and one should use that first. Then when you have the proper PL, DPL, or 'tones', then you can use the AND/OR setting.

When scanning, the radio may be using STD/STD muting rules.....

Or, someone may have butchered the "codeplug".
