To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I would recommend replacing the two antenna set up with a single antenna and a duplexer. You may be experiencing desense, as well RG-213 is NOT recommended for repeater use. Only use either hard line, OR double shielded coax (RG-214) stay away from LMR400 as it has dissimilar metals in the shield and can generate noise when the cable flexes or moves.

Do you see any red alarm lights on the front of the repeater when it is giving you the problem? If yes, you could have a SWR problem with the antenna and the repeater is reverting to a low watt only transmit mode.

RG-213 is not 100% shielded, and can cause desense due to RF leakage. Strongly recommend getting proper 100% shielded coax or hard line.

Firmware Version of Repeater?
Firmware Version of Handhelds?
SoftwareVersion of CPS?
Encryption yes or no?
Enhanced or basic?
Mixed mode entitlement ID correctly installed in repeater?
SIT times correctly set according to system planner?
Repeater Privacy set correctly for Encryption used?
What is the measured desense in analog mode through your duplexer?
What is the BER through your service monitor in digital mode?

Thank u for ur reply:

4- no Encryption
5- ---
6- Mixed mode entitlement ID correctly installed in repeater ( i bay repeater alredy installed ) , Also test digital Alone
7- SIT times correctly set according to system planner ( I dont know what it's ) if u mean site search time it's 15 s , but i think it's for ip site connect!
8- Repeater Privacy set correctly for Encryption used ( no need becuse i'm in open )
9- What is the measured desense in analog mode through your duplexer ( i use 2 antenna system tx top far 5meter from rx base )
10- What is the BER through your service monitor in digital mode ( i dont have service monitor, )

thanks , and this is answer!!??

It is always a good plan to put the RX antenna on top. That way your giving the max elevation to be able to hear low level signals trying to get into the repeater.

The measurement for desense is where you use a signal generator and an injection device. Start out with the transmitter shut off and inject a low level signal into the antenna port. Pay attention to what level your signal generator is at that breaks the squelch.

Now turn on the repeater transmitter. The receiver squelch will probably be shut due to the transmitter causing interference to the receiver. Now increase the signal generator output until you open the squelch again. Record this level. The difference between the two levels is the amount of desense you have in your repeater system.

The signgnal injector can be made from a T coax connector. They will have a center pin that you have to remove on the side connector. This can be done in many ways. Most of the time the center conductor is just screwed in. Try taking some pliers and grabbing the center conductor pin and try to twist it out.

You do not want to have any connection from the straight through center pin connections to the side one your trying to remove when your done. You really don't care how much insertion loss you make with this device. That won't change your measurements.

Take the modified T connector and put it in series with the antenna connection. Then connect your signal generator to the modified side connector.

Bottom line here is your looking to prevent the transmitter output power from going back into the signal generator and damaging it. That is what the signal injector will do for you.

Anyway, let us know how you make out.

Make sure in the repeater that you are viewing the codeplug in the EXPERT mode in the software.

Look at the Privacy drop down and make SURE that the setting matches how your portables are programmed. This CAN affect coverage and audio quality. Not saying it will, but has been known to be an issue. Waiting to see what you learn from your desense measurements.

Wish I had seen this posting before now, just back from a three week trip to Israel might have been able to help.

The Ebay link is sold. But can you explain what you are looking for and I will try to get you some answers.

Also, I thought Tetra was the choice in Israel not DMR ?
