• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi All,

We upgraded all our old GP320s to the new MOTOTRBO DP3600s the other month, and I've been wondering if we can set a call group system up

There are 2 groups using the radios, IT and Maintenance. We have a DM4550 as a base station. What I would like to do is make it possible for the base station to broadcast to certain groups, however still receive communication from both groups when not sending a message

Is this possible?

-- More Detail --

Sorry I can't work out how to edit a original post. Forgive me!

My question is rather vague, allow me to explain.

We have 6 MOTOTRBO DP3600s, distributed in 2 groups. IT contains 4 radios, and Maintenance has 2. We then have an XPR4550 at reception.

Maintenance is a busy group compared to IT, and we want to try divide the two groups. IT and Maintenance do not need to communicate between each other, however I would like to set it up so that reception can place calls to each group.

Obviously I could run each group on separate frequency, however I would like reception to still be able to receive communication from both groups.

Basically: Reception can transmit/receive to either group A or group B, and group A/B cannot communicate between each other.

I would prefer to be able to complete this without purchasing any more equipment, however if we absolutely have to thats what I will have to do!

Cheers

Are you operating in digital or analog? If in digital you can easily do that by setting up separate call groups for IT and Maint. The mobile at the desk could have both channels and talk to both at the same time by using an all call or to just one or the other. This can all be done on a single frequency or a single repeater using the digital ID's of the radio. Your Motorola vendor should be able to program this for you.
