• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Has anyone heard anything about a manufacturer that may be working on a scanner that will be able to monitor Mototrbo systems?

No. You can count Uniden out at this point since they just announced their newest series and it doesn't include MotoTRBO as one of the modes it works on. That said, they may be working on it, but if so it will be quite a while for them to introduce it (they appear to have a two to three year cycle for new models).

There's still hope for Whistler (the group that's taking over the GRE line of scanners), but since they're just starting up it'll be a while for them as well. I wouldn't expect any brand new models from them (only Whistler branded versions of what GRE was making and selling) for at least most of this year.

If they do, then count on countless radio techs all over checking the "basic" or "enhanced" box.....
