Since most services I would like to program these days are digital, I am looking to upgrade. I began looking at the Whistler TRX-1 and WS1088. Then I saw a thread comparing the TRX-1 to the AnyTone AT-868UV, so I started looking at the AT-868UV and AT-878UV. The AnyTone units are listed as Tx/Rx and not much info is given regarding scanner capability, just the amount of memory for storage. Quite large but most are these days.
I put together a list of must haves:
1. Analog and Digital reception ( both conventional and trunked systems)
2. Ability to receive the latest trunking systems (digital)
3. Ability to record received transmissions (removable media a plus)
Couple of things I wouldn't mind:
1. SDIO loaded with the entire RadioReference freq listings
2. Tx/Rx capability is a bit interesting
3. Battery pack that is not limited to being an integral part of the radio (ie- NiMH or Lithium Ion AA rechargeable batteries instead of a battery pack)
I am not adverse to learning to program a new radio as I don't mind a challenge and if the benefits outweigh the liabilities I'm ok.
Also, don't hesitate to recommend a radio I haven't listed as I am open to new options/features.
Thanks in advance.
