• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Anyone have any news about listening to Montgomery Police Department? I used to listen to them 24/7 when they were on 460.500 UHF. I was mad when they went digital encrypted and could no longer listen to them. Is there any new radios out that can monitor them that are within reach for the average Joe? Or is there any new live feeds? Thanks for reading and any replies.

MPD switched over to the county-wide P25 system, but they are still encrypted. You can listen to the MCSO main dispatch channel if you have a P25 capable scanner. They do not encrypt that channel, but the rest of the MCSO channels are. I also hear some of the VFDs on the P25 system occasionally. Don't know if they are switching over to that system or if it is simulcast with their UHF dispatch channel.

Maxwell AFB occasionally broadcasts in the clear, but are normally encrypted.
