I can now confirm this, but the site pictures I have are too large to download here. The essence of the pic is Harris SecureSync terminal attached to the base station or repeater.

Actually that is the Spectracom product name for their simulcast timing product....it has nothing to do with encryption. (Just a name confusion).

Frankly, a lot of this is academic, as word on the street is that all talkgroups will be encrypted on this system.

Thunderknight is correct; the SecureSync is the simulcast timing device, not an encryption device.

Now that we're using new forum software, it would be nice if you finally learned how to quote posts correctly. (y)

At the bottom right corner of every post, there are two buttons you can click:

Quote.PNG

The 1.PNG button will allow you to select multiple posts to quote in your reply, while the 2.PNG button is used to select a single post for quoting when replying.

I seem to not be not Hearing Zone 2 Control Channel in N Westchester on my BCD325P2. Am I doing Something wrong? I've also noticed that there are 5 numbers after the decimal. Does that have something to do with it? I downloaded it direct of the DB into my programming, but the frequency doesn't seem to transfer over correctly.

Uniden scanners never show the fifth decimal place, so it's perfectly normal to see 770.1562 instead of 770.15625. In fact, you may even see ProScan round it up to 770.1563, nothing to worry about.

Just be advised that you seem to have your squelch fully closed, so you're not going to pick up much of anything except strong local signals. Try turning it down to the threshold, which is normally 2 or 3.

So far these two sites seem to be putting out a very weak signal, so it's the luck of the draw as to whether you'll pick anything up or not. Although Zone 2 is supposed to be Putnam and N Westchester, the signal was actually discovered in the S Westchester area. Perhaps they're just doing some low powered testing in the NYC area.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the frequencies this system will use. A while back someone asked about the allocation of 700 MHz frequencies for the states, and so I posted the complete list of 96 "12.5 kHz" channels. That post may've been taken out of context to mean that the MTAPD system would be using all of them, when in fact it will only be using one quarter of them systemwide.

Here is a list of the currently allocated frequencies for each zone from the pool of state allocated frequencies:

Zone 1 - Nassau & Suffolk
770.20625
770.94375
773.54375
773.81875
774.28125

Zone 2 - Putnam & N Westchester
770.15625
770.43125
773.29375
773.84375
774.30625

Zone 3 - S Westchester
769.90625
770.18125
770.46875
770.71875
773.03125

Zone 4 - Orange & Rockland
769.93125
770.40625
770.68125
773.31875
774.04375

Zone 7 - S Dutchess
769.71875
769.91875
770.19375
770.45625
773.09375

I Put my squelch to about 3 hopefully that helps. I am definitely seeing an improvement on my scanner.
I figured that they were doing testing so I just wanted to see if I could pick up the control channel. Looks like they are building out a big system, excited to see what it becomes. Is there any talk when they will be testing out TGIDs? Thanks

Even tho the system will be zipped up tight, does anyone know where the tower that's listed for Nassau actually is? I was in central Nassau (Westbury) and could not receive any control channel.

Quote" As of conversation today with a PD tech they are going Phase 2 on the 700 with AES. Even the radios equipped with ADP are being upgraded to AES. All very soon too.

Well if it wasn't for the failure of SWIN it would have happened years ago.

Has anyone heard any activity on this system in the NYC area?

As far as I know they will continue to use the 800 system off Chrysler, except inside GCT where the 700 is lit up and in testing phase.
