• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Does anyone have the error codes for the MTS 2000? Assume they are generated from the RSS Software.
Specific interest is non-fatal Error Code: E09/10

Means scurenet is enable without an encryption board in the radio.
You can use the RSS to disable the securenet feature.
I have securenet option enable without an ecryption board in it and the radio works fine.
Keep it that way if you want the "beep" when you press the PTT.

The secure board must still be installed in the radio when using the rss to disable it otherwise the rss menu's will not allow it to be disabled.

I've never had a problem enabling or disabling the encryption hardware option without the board being installed.

The RSS option just tells the radio it has an encryption board. It does not check whether the board is actually there or not.

You could be right. I always use the cps and thats how it works with cps. I should have specified that.

Not even the CPS cares.

The only time the radio communicates with the CPS (or RSS) is when a codeplug is read or written and it only checks to make sure that you're writing to the right model with the proper feature set.

Mike - I made the mistake of removing the secure boards in about a dozen MTS2000's and then got the above error. Only after re-installing the boards, reading the codeplug and unchecking the secure equipped check box & blowing the codeplug back in the radio did the error cease. I tried reprograming without re-installing the secure board and the cps had the checkbox grayed out so it was not possible to correct the problem, and I tried opening up the original codeplug and unchecking the box and blowing the codeplug in without the secure board but the cps protested about that also. Not sure why but thats the way it is.

Well after all of that. Since I will not be needing secure comm, and therefore the board, I'll just live with the error code as it appears to be meaningless for my use.
Thanks to all.
