• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a question I need answered. I just came across a MTS 2000 FLASHpoint. It was given to me. I know nothing about it. Can someone tell me what freq range this radio is? I post some picture. It is Motorola. The antenna is about 8 inches long and has a ball on the end. The front has a screen and 6 buttons. The top 3 buttons have dots on them and the left and right ones on the bottom have arrows and the center on one the bottom says HOME. On the top of the radio there or 2 knobs, a toggle switch, and an orange button. One knob is volume and the other knob has 16 channels and a switch that has a circle and a circle with a line though it. The Toggle switch has A, B, C on it. On the left side of radio have the PTT button, 2 small buttons and a small circle blue button.

Can anyone tell me what this radio can do?
What Freq Range it is?
How much it is worth?

On the back of the radio under the battery there is a sticker, and that has the model number on it, it will probably say something that looks like this: H01UCD6PW1BN, we need those letters and numbers to find out the band split. Im guessing its an 800mhz trunking radio for Police and Fire.

GEZELLE007 - The numbers are H01UCF6PW1BN. If it is 800mhz what can i use it for around my area. I live in Tullahoma, TN? How much is it worth?

Well that was lucky, they are exactly those numbers?? If they are your radio is a:

Motorola MTS2000 Flashport 800mhz radio used for trunking on Motorola systems, you really cant monitor anything with it in your county.. I'm assuming Warren County. And you cant program it to monitor a trunking network because that requires special programming keys... the only thing you could do with it is monitor conventional 800mhz frequencies... and the radios are pretty valuable I suppose. You can try to sell it on ebay for like 200 dollars or more.

Ah. Yeah I forgot about that part. But yeah our whole country pretty much uses it here and there. Its pretty popular. You see it in bigger cities and metro areas. Such as Portland. Close to where I live.

Nice. Yeah I probably have way too many as well. Scanners. Radios. Things I shouldn't have. But I like that they fill up my desk. Haha.

You sure do got yourself a nice Motorola MTS2000 Model 2 800MHz
I'm also curious, take a look on the sticker tag on the back of the radio - in the bottom left corner, what are the string of numbers? There are zeros in them

That is called the flash code, that shows what the radio can do with the firmware that it has installed... and that code shows "H37/G50 Smartnet Operation" Which means it can trunk on large 800mhz networks.

The numbers are 0000040000006. What does that so?

That's the "flashcode". It's a bitmap that identifies the features and options that the radio was configured with, at least as shipped (it's possible that other options were added after the radio was shipped without updating the sticker; the only way to tell for sure what options the radio has is to hook it up to a computer and read the configuration with the Motorola programming software).

Your flashcode identifies a pretty bare-bones configuration. It has only one option bit set, for "H37 SmartNet operation". (That means it's set up for use with a SmartNet trunking system)

just curious, thats the usual flashcode that you see, it just means that the radio was used on a smartnet system. its pretty standard. I was just curious to see what it was working on
