• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

MTS 2000 UHF
Firmware 5.62
H38 package
000008-000000-2

I was aware older firmware versions could not do MPL. However I can not recall after what version did and if the H38 packages did not allow MPL in conventional use when only using conventional. I know conventional is limited and such so no brainer there as the H38 flashed versions were mainly intended for type II/III use.

Enabled MPL in the conventional personalities intended which are CSQ, assigned the tones in the MPL list. Rx and Tx. Assigned a button.

Nada. Tried other buttons and nothing. No menu display option for MPL. Don't recall if you could on the MTS2000. Only thing I can think is due to it being a H38 or Firmware at 5.62 is only reason I cannot get it to do MPL.

Just a old surplus unit hanging around I decided to play with as a desktop monitor unit for miscellaneous services around the area. Believe me I have debated on getting with someone sending it off to be firmware lifted to the last and maybe a flash job to straight conventional with signaling. With modern equipment around it hasn't been a must do item. If it mattered it is using the final cps version in windows. Had to dust off that old laptop out of the storage. Yeah I could use a APX, XTS or HT1000 around the shop but I got a old days kick in me to bring it out of a box.

Determined it is the H38 and flash. Thanks for stopping by. Funny thing is 2 others same flash and package do not show check box or mpl option. Radio must have seen funny hands at one time.

Further looking into this unit it appears it may have issues. No audio was emitting minus static that was light as if someone keys and nothing more. Beginning to think it may have issues so looks like this will be a tear down and play project for fun to mess with it.
