For those of you who follow these informations, the municipality of Joliette (and 6 others from that area) in the north-eastern suburb of Montreal dismantled their regional police force to contract the police services with the Sûreté du Québec as of Avril 1st. All of the 71 officers (and a few civilian) where transfered and integrated in the provincial police which now brings this force with around 5300 sworn officers and 119 detachments.

All of the frequencies use by the municipal department are now use by the municipality since the Sûreté du Québec have their own.

Other then the provincial police, the Sûreté du Québec, as of April 1st there are now 34 municipal police forces in this province if we don't count the Aboriginal police forces.
