• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I don't know where you are, but all preformers hate to be heckled. It works for me. Especially if there is a "Roger Beep" involved. Last guy I heckled hated the fact that I called him "Microwave" because everything ended with a beep! He couldn't stay out of my range, because we were going in the same direction.

Want it to stop?
Find out WHERE he is, broadcast his name, address, phone number, license plate, make of vehicle and ss# if you know how to get it. These low life don't take kindly to being exposed for what they are!
He WILL stop.

You know I drove OTR from 97 until November of last year and not once since I started has there been anything except crap most times on the CB. It hasn't been what it used to be in a VERY long time. I rarely even turned it on unless I was running hot, bad weather or something happening that I needed to find out about and certainly not since some nut asked about getting a two letter sexual act on the radio and I had my seven year old ask what a Bob Johnson meant.

Oh and yes I do remember back when you had to have license and it was funny because in 77 my grandmother bought a new car that came with it and she had to apply for and get a license for it. She laughed her a$$ because the license was KBAT**** which she found hilarious.

Usually just kept my scanner and XM running and that was it. Could find out a whole lot about things just off the scanner alone as you rode down the interstate. Accidents, weather, etc.

One other word of advice, stay off 19 unless you need to be on it. I hear locals have other channels they use a lot like 17 and 11 but if you want to talk just find some station that's free and go at it.

Oh and another thing I always noticed is that they can never ever play anything decent when they do that. :)

Umm ... change the channel? There are forty of them.

And don't go looking for the moron, a really really dumb suggestion. Ever heard of guns? It has happened, many times over the years. What if the guy is at his house? He could call the cops and have you charged with menacing just by sitting in front of his house. It has happened many times to many silly people who went looking for these antisocial types playing music or jamming.
Just change the channel and ignore him. Don't give him validation by searching him out.

Actually ignoring the antisocial is the best solution. They obviously want attention. Mostly that's why people exhibit this king of pathological behavior. Ignoring and going to another channel is the best way to make the antisocial types feel not gratified.

Yep you bcst their name, city and address they usually stop, but the better thing to do is turn it off, spend 2 nights of study and get your ham ticket, 10 year olds pass the tech and younger, it is easy.

Yeppers, while a soc number is nearly impossible to get broadcasting personal information sometimes, sometimes gets them to stop IF they fear a midnight antenna party. Best leave that to others who don't fear a beating or being shot, it HAS happened. On the other hand why lower yourself to his level? You're better than that and like the man said there are 39 other channels. On the down side the jammer follows so in that case there is always the off switch, come back later, it's doubtful he'll wait around for you.

Bottom line here is if your world revolves around CB you need your head examined. (;->)

Yep,right you are warren. I haven't owned a cb for many years, but in the unfortunate years when I did and actually liked the hobby just not the "channel-lords"!
Foolish as it was,I found there were a few effective ways to discourage these clowns on the air without any violence occuring.
It was surprising back then, how much info you could get on a person just by using the phonebook, reverse directory or library! I shudder to think what ugly tactics could be used by an adept internet user today, coupled with an extraordinary understanding of radio against one of these ch.6 "watt gods"!
Making a person snap remotely,had it's enjoyment factor,lol.
