• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Still looking for a user manual and if possible a service manual for a MV7

I have a unit here and not a clue what the wires do, and also missing the cable to connect from the camera into the camera input connector. If i can find a service manual ill just make one, looks to be 2 blacks, 1 red, 1 yellow wire from the camera side and goes into a 5 pin connector coming from the wire harness on the vault
If i can make my own then super!

If anyone know a link or has either of these manuals. Please send me a PM. Been looking for better part of a year and no luck. The mobile vision website staff are no help unless i become a new customer then they will assist me they say

Looking for anyone who knows how to program the MV7 display screen.
Iv tried holding FF+PLAY
RW+FF
and holding STOP

No programing menu pops up. Is there something im missing?
I dont have the locks for the vault door, it has a red and ablack wire hanging in the place the vault key lock was. Do i have to touch one of these wires to something to get into the programing menu?

My screen is showing a date of 1998

I have 27 of these units (MV7) on the way and am in search of an install guide - or should I say a color code KEY, for the wires.
I've installed a couple of the "Kustom Signals" version, so I know the basics.
A users guide and/or installation guide would sure make things easier though.

And a Huge THANKS, to anyone that is able to help me out on this.

I've attempted to contact L3, and several people at the compaqny, have read my message, but I'm getting no response from them.

I have a copy of a manual for these. I copied it years ago when we got one of these units for free.
But I can help you from memory on programming.
1. with system on and a tape in the vcr door, but not pushed in, just set it in enough to hold the door open.
2. hold the play and stop buttons for 3 seconds
3. let go of both buttons.
4. a display should now show up with menue options.

The telephone cord is for the external microphone cradle/charger/syncer. there is also a very thin wire for the second microphone that is used in car. When the system is on, place the external microphone (looks like a big pager with a slide button) in the cradle. There are two led's on cradle, the right led is charge status and changes color from red(dead charging) to orange, yellow and green when fully charged. The light on the left is green, when the microphone is turned on and placed in the charger, the light blinks fast until it syncs to camera. When the light stops it is synced. Test it by sliding the square button on the front of the mic down. It should activate recording. On the mic top is a window that has a tiny button on the right. that lights up the window in dark. With the mic on it should show an antenna signal icon on the left and flashes when it is out of range or needs synced. on the far right of the window shows battery status icon. When recording there is a icon in the center that looks like two circles with a band wrapped around them like a cassette tape. All three icons should display and light the window for a second, then light goes out and all three icons stay while recording.

On your monitor unit when recording, the rec red led should light up. Also in the back of the unit where cables plug in, there is an orange led. that lights up and stays on when the microphone is working and within range. On your monitor display, M2 should appear on the top right, M1 appears for the internal mic when recording.

The options on the display menu are for setting it up to record lock, so you wont tape over recorded video. Another is for radar inputs and to activate record when emergency lights or siren are activated. There are a few other options, ne hooks up to the brake switch and displays "B" when the brake is activated while recording.

The wires are to hook up to control box that activates lights and another to the siren.

Also the vcr case has to be closed and locked for the system to work.

The batteries go bad on the external mic and they sell replacements. The cradle for the mics also go bad. The cable to the camera goes bad, the display goes bad. All of which can be replaced.

We still use four of these in our cars. Mine has a rolling screen on the monitor, which is how I found this forum on google and signed up.

If you want a copy of this manual let me know, it is full size paper and an inch thick. Or if you need pics of how it looks installed or anything let me know.

Mobile Vision MV7 system settings.

Thank you for posting this setup information. I was able to wire this to 12VDC, and had the monitor and VCR cabinet come to life.

Black to ground, red to positive and yellow to switched 12VDC.

Stop and Play buttons held to enter setting screen.

I was able to bypass the lock on the VCR cabinet door by taking the cover off and shorting the lock wires.

A few minutes later I have an old school video recorder that will be going into my old SUV.
