I have 2 SDS-200S and they both have the same type of problem I live in Washington State and listen to Snohomish County fire SNO-911, law enforcement is encrypted
fire is in the open My zip-code is 98258

they are both doing the same thing, and I well try to explain it the best I can.
I seemed to lose the GPS connection, I'm locked on SNO-911 and then it scans everything
When I try and find the SNO911 I can't seem to find it I well I push the system button with "T" and look for SNO-911 I can find everything else like Oregon on number 1 and Canada on number 2 SO I do a ZIP-search 98258 and of course it loads the National data base and Washington Data base then it blacks out reloads it again kind of over and over and when I try to find SNO911 it seems to just lock on some stuff in Canada and the other one seems to find Oregon
I did try a full reset on number 1 but it did not work

I tried to explain it the best I can any Ideas??

Does the gps icon stay on your screen and are you using favorites lists or the full database? If favorites lists, is Location Control set to ON in each list?

Do you know how to create a favorite list with Sentinel?

Or do you just depend on GPS/Zip Code scanning?

Are the two scanners stationary or mobile?

Setting up a Favorite List would be your best option for local listening, and then use the GPS when traveling out of your area.

Is this a new problem, meaning you have been doing this for a while, and now its not working correctly? In either event, the best thing to do is create a fav list for your local and utilize the full db when traveling. There is no need to be using a gps in a home location.

Is the SNO911 system the only system you are wanting to listen too on a regular basis? Or is there other areas interest to you?

Can help you get a Favorite List setup if I know what areas of interest you have. As @dave3825 stated, no reason to use gps/zip in your home area.

Also if you PM me a phone number can walk you through importing and setting up a Fav List.

I have never really done a favorite list I just use GPS and ZIP-code I use them both for the house and mobile
Since you are a Premium Subscriber, your best bet would be to use software, such as ProScan, to create a Favorites list by importing what you want to monitor. (ARC536 also includes this capability, but my preference is ProScan.) You can download & use the software for a 30-day free trial, before you either have to purchase a license, or discontinue use. The cost is $50, and includes lifetime free updates.

You can have Sentinel create a Favorites list for you, using your location, range, and the service types that you have enabled. (You should have already installed Sentinel, since that is required for updating the master database, as well as applying any firmware updates that might be released.) See the attached file for step by step instructions.

Once you have created a list, either using software such as ProScan, or using Sentinel to create a list for channels in range, be sure to go to your Profile in Sentinel, & set your new list to be both downloaded to the scanner, as well as monitored by default, when you send the list to your scanner.

It seems to be a read error of the database on the SD card. Uniden have too few error checks about the SD cards read/write so users don't really know what's going on.

Take out the card and clean its contact surfaces.
As you only use the database right now then use Sentinel to do Clear User Data, download the latest database from Uniden using Sentinel and then write it to the SD card.

If you manually enter a zip code into the scanner it will immediately be overwritten by the GPSs coordinates if it has a lock, first loading one set of systems done by zip code followed by another set of systems by GPS. Go to Set Your Location and Set Up GPS and Set Serial Port and choose Off, or pull the GPS cable from your scanner, as zip code alone will be enough.

I agree with disconnecting, for now, the GPS device. Then manually add the zip code. Assuming you are near the 98258 and the desired system overlaps this zip code, it should be fine.
