Post 'em here!

This was my first shortwave receiver, a Hallicrafters S-40B. (not my photo) My neighbor had it in his garage and gave it to me. I spent HOURS and HOURS starting at this green dial. I was hooked. Then I got my ham license and used this same receiver to work some 27 states before upgrading. 7113khz baby. That was home. (we were crystal controlled back in those days you know) Man, I can feel those knobs in my fingers right now, just like it's sitting in front of me. :^] I always thought the radio was broke because I never heard anything above 15Mhz ... for YEARS. It was just the bottom of the solar cycle though, the radio was fine.

When I ran it back in Illinois I never got much-it won't get much unless you run a big antenna on it. It's a ***** to tune also.

Here's me age about 12 with my (late) Dad witha Ex-Govt Marconi R1475 which we selected from one of the many Surplus Radio shops in Tottenham Court Road, London in the mid 50's. Carefully logged all sorts of things. My first real radio!

Sony 7F-74DL.

My dad picked this up for me while in Germany in 1971. Wonderful little portable and I'd sure like to find another.

Mine was a BC-342. I received that from my dad when I was about 6 years old, and can blame my interest in radio on that one receiver. It was my favorite toy, growing up.
