Assuming database is still accurate, your town's fire & utilities can still be monitored if it's any consolation to you...
The Database is incredibly accurate for southern New England. I've said this to you, time and time and time again. I'm tired of repeating this.
This particular entry happens to be extra accurate because...
I LIVE HERE IN THE CITY THAT IS THE SUBJECT OF THIS THREAD.
Johnmacc,
Anyways, yes the DB is accurate. Yes the PD foolishly switched their former channel 2 to encryption, and flip flopped channels on Tuesday. The former channel 1, is now channel 2, and left "in the clear" for interop. As I've heard, they aren't letting anyone else have access to the encrypted radio channels. Neighboring departments, media, etc.
Although they've been having issues with it. It's not strapped on the console, and the dispatcher has been in the clear, albeit very rarely. Last night, after the power went out , they had issues and had to use their analog channel for about three hours.
