Nice find!

Thank you Wally!! I used documents like this in the past to find, confirm, and submit the federal agency frequencies for Utah. But no sooner had I gotten the list complete when all the Northern Utah BLM repeaters went dead. I searched the Web for a new list but didn't come up with one. You found exactly what I need, dated 04/07. The Forest Service repeaters are all the same, but I need to update the BLM repeaters. I'll get on it soon. Thanks for your help. -Tim

Great info! Can you find info for the southern and eastern areas of the state to confirm some info I have posted? :) plus it would help on the not so active frequencies that I may not have yet. Thanks for the info so far!

Enos, I found it on the first search (http://www.blm.gov/utah/moab/fire/AOP.pdf)! I guess it just takes a while for these documents to get onto the Web and for the search engines to find and log them. I searched diligently a couple months ago and came up empty. This document has the new repeater frequencies you've been hearing with all the juicy details. Now all we have to do is digest it.

Wow, it's been a big day for Utah on RR, thanks to Wally's contributions and what they led to! I think I've gotten all the changes and new repeaters entered now. It was great to find a list of all the Manti-La Sal Forest repeaters as well as the BLM updates for northern and southeastern Utah. I had a map of the La Sal repeaters but didn't know their tones, and this new list provided the tones but not the locations. Together they provided 13 new repeaters across 8 counties!

Despite many Web searches I have yet to find a complete list of federal frequencies for southern Utah. I have virtually nothing for Fishlake and Dixie National Forests, and same for Ashley National Forest. It's odd that some regions provide regular documents on the Web while others don't. We need to recruit some scanners in these areas.

The link doesn't work anymore. Did anybody grab a copy before it disappeared?

Ouch, I hope we didn't drive somebody into secrecy. They seem to be changing the BLM Web site so it could have moved to a different location. In any case I have a copy if you want to PM me.

I can't imagine why the BLM would want to hide their repeaters since they're mostly used for fire control.

I've seen this happen before... great freq info on the net... magically disappears. I "always" download a copy of any of this type of stuff because, all too often, poof! it's gone.

Great job!

Thanks Gary. The first two files I have, but the third one contains information I have long been searching for! What search engine did you use to find this? Apparently I need to try something other than Google or be more clever at thinking of search strings. This is a new file, but I searched for it again last weekend. I will add this info to the DB. We still need more info from farther southwest in the Dixie National Forest/St. George area. -Tim

Government Documents

I hadn't thought to try AOP. I tend to shoot for place names and known frequencies.

The 2007 Central Utah Interagency Fire Management Annual Operating Plan is great. It provides new frequencies for Fishlake National Forest, Capitol Reef National Park, and a few county frequencies. But the one consistent thing about government documents is their frequent errors. This document has some wrong frequencies, TX and RX mixed up, as well as having the old (now defunct) frequencies for BLM repeaters. I guess the key is to check these things out before accepting them as gospel.

SE Utah Fire Frequencies

Here is another nice list of repeaters and location maps for the Moab area: http://www.blm.gov/utah/moab/fire/pilotorientation.pdf. It has some updates from the 2006 version that I used as a source for federal frequencies last year. I have gotten most of the updates into the database but have a couple more details to check out.

Updated Forest Service Frequencies

Sorry to revive an old thread but I figured it would be better than starting a new one.

I have been working to get correct frequencies for the Forest Service in the Wasatch Front area. Based on the Red Butte fire and the fire near Farmington tonight, I have been able to confirm the following changes:

The main dispatch channel (at least for Davis County) is the Fairmont Repeater. I also heard FS Fire units on this repeater during the Red Butte fire. The database entry for this repeater is no longer valid. I found the repeater input to be 164.9325 (tone 136.5) and the output to be 173.775 (tone 151.4).

Utah county FS is on UNF2 Lake Mountain (172.375). The frequency in the data base is correct. The tone is not, however. I show it to be 127.3 based on traffic I picked up tonight.

I am trying to sort out the tones since many of the repeaters share the same output frequencies and can only be differentiated by their tones. This doesn't matter if you only want to program the frequency once as CSQ but I prefer to organize them by area. I'm weird.

The fireground frequencies I have heard are:

166.2375 Tac 1 (heard during farmington fire tonight with tones of 131.8 and 110.9 depending on who was transmitting)

166.9625 Tac 2 (heard during red butte)

Air to Ground (Air Attack) 170.000

I would appreciate feedback if anyone has any disagreements. Also, if you have frequencies that can help me complete my list for the Wasatch Front (or the whole state :) ) I would appreciate them. Many of the frequencies listed in the federal portion (FS/BLM) of the database seem to be incorrect or have possibly changed since they were posted.

Found Freq. List

I was able to find this list from the NUIFC Incident Organizer for 2011. It previously was not available, but has recently been posted.

I have noticed that no repeater output tones are listed. They were showing up on my scanner though while I was searching. Any thoughts?

Hopefully this will help with changes to the database.

Past history [I'm sure ExSmokey etc will add comments] was the USFS, BLM, BIA, NPS etc would program input tones, but not outputs.

Reasons? Older Repeater would only do one tone. Same in/out and if someone was calling you on the other repeater you would not hear them.

With new Equipment this is likely changing in each Region/Park etc.

There has been a slow [time] build-out of the Federal Parks [USFS, NPS, BLM, BIA] in the Wiki, take a peek and pass along any needed changes additions.. Recent Confirmations are welcome and needed

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.1; en-us; DROIDX Build/VZW) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1 480X854 motorola DROIDX)

Thanks for the info. I am wondering if my uniden bcd396xt was picking up false tones. I ran CloseCall as I sat in the gas station parking lot across the street from the incedent command. It was picking up tones even on the tac channel which I understand should be csq. I suppose it is possible that their Bendix King radios have a tone programmed on the tx side regardless and the rx is set to csq. The tone on the IC's radio was different than the crew boss up on the fire.

It would be nice if they had output tones on the repeaters. Without them it is hard to assign alpha tags since about 5 repeaters in an area share the same output frequency.
