• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello all,

Can someone provide me with the NAC that needs to be entered into the CPS to allow the xts5000 to open to all astro communications. the hex code is one of the two F7E or 7FE. however the cps software won't translate it to a usable three digit code. thank you.

Typically 293 or F7E.

When you're in the CPS, set the "RX Unmute Rule" (Last box on the bottom) to 'Digital CSQ'.

The NAC is F7E and the CPS will accept it. Just make sure you are entering it in the RX Network ID field.

You could always just set the receive squelch type to Digital and not bother with the NAC.

293 is just the default value that Motorola uses. Doesn't mean anything.

F7E is the P25 defined carrier squelch NAC.

Thank you for your replys. Yes 293 is the default. however it is not the CSQ nac it is a valid nac. I tried entering f7e into the field and it did accept it fine, but did not decode the astro I transmitted using another valid nac. Tomorrow when I go back to work I will check the cps for the box astro csq.

Your master site
For Motorola subscriber gear you're normally supposed to set it as digital CSQ as mentioned. Some other manufacturers have adopted F7E as an equivalent to it but F7E and F7F are really more oriented toward the repeater side, especially with Motorola. F7E is meant to accept any input NAC and TX NAC 293. F7F is meant to accept any NAC and transmit out exactly whatever the input NAC was.

My XTS5000 has no problem using F7E as a carrier squelch NAC. What firmware version are you running?
