Are NAS Pensacola/NAS Whiting security encrypted? I can't find anything in the database saying they are, but while the radio stops on those channels, I don't get any audio. Not sure if that is because of encryption or because it is DMR or some other protocol.

Thanks.

They are on the United States Department of Defense (14C) P25 Phase 1 system, check the talkgroups DE means encrypted, De is sometimes encrypted, D means clear.

I'm not too far away from both bases. Never had any luck with picking up anything security. I have better luck listening to Eglin AFB security, which is twice as far away. Idk.

The database shows that they should be in the clear, but I don't hear anything when/if the scanner stops on those freqs. The primary one that it stops on is Whiting Field dispatch. It will stop and seemingly have activity, but no audio. My guess is that they went encrypted and the database hasn't been updated.

Once I get on an outside antenna, I will add Eglin to see what I can hear.

there are some variables here. What model scanner are you using? Are you 100% certain the programming is correct? How far away from the base are you? inside antenna or outside?

I have a BCD996XT, and an SDS200. The BCD996XT picks up NATTC rovers just fine, as well as the museum and public works. It will also pick up freqs on Whiting. The SDS200 doesn't seem to pick anything up. I live across the highway from the north runway of the base. The programming is from the database in Sentinel, so if it's right, then yes, I think it should be right. I have the 200 hooked up to a discone in the attic. The 996 is hooked up to an old sharkfin aircraft antenna.

check the service types on the SDS200 and make sure they are correct. "EDIT" "EDIT PROFILE" "SERVICE TYPES" with military checked.

Yes NAS Pensacola Shore Patrol (Police) are mostly encrypted. I’ve been there multiple times for the air show at the base and can’t hear much, if anything, from them. When it stops on the TGID try to pause it and it should read either P25 or will start as P25 then switch to either ENC or ENCRY on your SDS.
