• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

For those that are members of the North American SW Association (NASWA) and might not have heard - Bill Oliver, who handled the publishing duties of the Journal, passed away from a heart attack this past March

Consequently the old address on Wildflower Road has been closed down, and the club's future is being evaluated. The Journal is also on hiatus for the time being, April probably being the last issue for a while. They have a (presumably) temporary mailing address of PO Box 3292, Allentown, PA 18104

Our prayers go out to the Oliver family. I will try to keep everyone in the loop as to how NASWA will go forward, if indeed it does.

I understand that a new publisher has been set up so the Journal will keep going for the time being. Expect some hiccups as the new publisher comes on board; hopefully that won't take too long

So sad to just hear this. I knew Bill Oliver when I lived in Bucks County, PA, such a nice person. He loaned me his Drake SW4A to get back into SWL. He will be missed.
