Well, the only National Park even close to Winter Park is Rocky Mountain NP. RMNP is still about 30 Miles from Winter Park.

166.350 110.9 East Dispatch Repeater
166.350 100.0 (Romo Direct) Simplex

West side of the park has another repeater, but I have never been able to confirm those frequecies because of my location.

i could swear i heard john (n0vse) mention on the sunday night rocky mountain monitoring net a couple weeks ago that the park has gone encrypted, and he is up there a lot during the summer.

Wrong..... They have not gone or planned on going encrypted. What would they do that for? Their radio traffic is almost nothing. I would really be surprised if they spent all that extra money to not be heard, when they only say a few words a day

Nope was in Estes Park last weekend monitoring RMNP on VHF and also heard them this morning enroute to Steamboat. Why would they need or want to go encrypted?

It's almost like he's obsessed with the RMNP comm operations. If one of their repeaters is on the fritz or they switch to a secret squirel channel *PANIC*

I was able to confirm tonight, with some great tropo that is happening.....

166.300 West Romo Dispatch repeater

There was not enough traffic for me to get the PL on the Pro-96, I was monitoring on another rig. Also for those out there that enjoy finding and listening to new freqs, this night has been great night for that. Due to my current listening position, all that I am using is a "rubber duck" on the radio(s), so nothing special is needed!

So far, I am able to hear way South "stuff" like 145.130 (Colorado Connection Repeaters) on Cheyenne Mountain

Have fun....
