a place in town got a new system is DMR moturbo. If I buy a BCD996P2 will it receive this?

You need BCD536HP or BCD436HP with the DMR upgrade

Would not bother with a Uniden look at the Whistler line TRX series
Uniden DMR is marginal at best, you will be disappointed

I have both Uniden and Whistler and neither one disappoints me.

I have a BCD436HP and it receives MOTOtrbo better than P25 and conventional.
