• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I recently purchased 3 hytera RD982S (uhf 400-470) spit repeaters from a SK estate. The problem I am having is when I try to program them both the PC37 and 47 cables upon power up I hear the usb tone and after approx 10 secs it diconnects the usb and won't read the repeater.Acts like it is dealer locked out as none of the front keys work and the displays don't light up.All 3 do exactly the same thing. The back plate show V6.1.03.003.I don't know if it has been updated as I can't read it.Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

The repeaters go through there startup and digital light is flashing blue at the end of startup sequence

Sent you a PM

Sounds like a USB issue
As long as the programming cable is set to CPS and not FW it should read. Iv had this issue with a specific laptop it didnt like the USB ports but would work on one of them and not the other

Programming you can add a read/write password when reading the repeater you need to enter a password and same for writing back to it since you havnt made it THAT far cant say for sure if it has that

For the buttons being locked out its just a keypad lock to prevent accidental button hits.
One of the 4 buttons is programmed for keypad lock. Try pushing each one and if nothing happens push and hold each 1 for 2-3 seconds and see if anything happens

Is there anything plugged into the DB25 on the back? Iv had some MD/HM radios not want to program due to something plugged into the DB port on the back

Try shutting the repeater off. plug the cable in and put it in FW mode and power the repeater back up and see if it will let you do a FW upgrade or not

It sounds like a USB driver issue and the assigned driver for either cable should be the later or latest something around Hytera V5.30.42.0_64bit and installs as "Digital Radio Solution Provider Modems" published by MMCI Intenral Testing Software. If its a generic Prolific driver or other this could be your conflict on the USB port.

Alternatively, whilst my RD982S dont give me any grief like yours and the key function is same as discussed above, I do have a new old collection of PD700's that were dealer programmed with READ and WRITE passwords + a RENTAL timer option that expired 4 years ago. Some will attempt to read and stay connected continously, but will flag the read and write password once hitting the read or write CPS button, so you should at least see a warning request if applicable to your problem.

Others, will behave exactly like your repeater and connect and disconnect over a 10 second cycle and we suspect its a result of many repeated attempts at guessing the incorrect password and or a software conflict in the hardware ............... which we cant access so far and I have since obtained said dealers password attempting to help me out with this but still not worked. Still working on this one.
