Please refrain from typing in all caps, it's tough to read and is frowned upon. Thanks, welcome to the site, I'm sure someone more familiar with that scanner will be along to help you soon.

You will need to obtain/purchase the BUTEL or PSREdit software and a programming cable. A Google search will take you to the download pages. Also look at the RR Wiki for more help and tips, after that we can help you if there are issues.

Hi savageplb

Please give your location (city, or county, plus state is sufficient) as well as the system you are trying to program. A link to that system in the database would be great. Also, if you are using software (I see that you are a Premium Subscriber), let us know which one.

If the OP's WS1040 was purchased new, a cable should have been included.

savageplb, start with this Wiki page. Be sure and explore the links on it.

Links for software that will work on your scanner, and other information, can be found here:
The three software packages that work for your scanner, PSREdit 500, ARC500, and Win500, each have a 30 day freee trial period so that you can choose which you like the best.

I would warn against Win500 (though that is what I have and love) only because we haven't heard from the creator and there have been reports of problems with new people getting the keys.

I know that, Mike, but since software was specifically mentioned earlier in the thread, I included the link separately.
