I have a Pro-97 Triple Trunking Scanner, and I have read the Manuel for it and I still can not understand how I program in Talkgroups.

The manuel says how to, but I guess I can't seem to understand it.

I would like to put in the TalkGroups for the
Law Enforcement System Talkgroups

DEC AFS Mode Alpha Tag Description Tag

275 02-023 A MOBILE-1 "A" Patrol 1 Car to Car Law Talk

That is the one I want in my scanner so I can listen to the cars, but I can't get it to work.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks.

But it didn't give me a frequiencie so what do I put for the freq.

Go to that site I put up.

The first website you sent me seems helpful, I'm reading that now. A little easier to read than the owners manuel.

How do I know if the system is Motorola Type II, EDACS or LTR

Well this link you posted

In the DB it's right next to System Type

Ok, I understanding it more now.

Where is the freq. though.

It doesn't show me freqs. except the ones at the top.

I did Shoreline because it is closer to me, and the freq. in red when I programmed it in
channel 601 it makes a constant loud noise, and I think I set the talkgroups up incorrectly.

On the analoge freqs. the channels are M201FM (Example, talking about the "M")

After I tried to set up trunking/talkgroup on freq. 856.43750 it changed channel to "S"601FM

Why is that channel "S" instead of "M" like the others?

I am thinking about videotaping, and puting it up on YouTube, and seeing if I can have anybody catch what I am doing wrong here.

you'll need to set it up as a trunked system and enter all the freqs for that tower site in the order on the chart for a edacs i believe...you can't program edacs for control channel only which is what you are hearing...although if you programmed the control channel unless you programmed it as a conv system instead of a trunked system you shouldn't be hearing the control

don't know anything about pro 97 but one of the links above shows you the key commands for setting up the system

Yea, I think I messed up something from the begining, I started the new trunking thing in new bank, and really, didn't get any further.

I'm probably going to reset the entire scanner, and reprogram everything all over again.

I also tried to download the limited version of win97 but it won't unzip on my computer. I was thinking it would be easier to program the scanner on the computer, but the program just doesn't seem to want to work.

programming on the comp is def. easier.

For the Corpus Christi System just program all of the freqs and set to ED mode.

then turn trunking on for that bank.

PGM Trunk MODE till it says EDACS or ED or something. (not 100% sure on this)
I don't have a 97 anymore.
That should allow you to start being able to monitor the system

Be sure you are putting the frequencies in the correct LCN, or number, order that is shown in the database page. An EDACS system MUST have all frequencies programmed in the correct order or you will hear nothing when scanning the system. So in your case, you would start with LCN 01 on channel 601, not 600, LCN 02 on channel 602, and so on until you have all the frequencies programmed in for that tower. Then, you hit SCAN to make it scan the system, and voila, you should be able to pick up any traffic that is not digital (PROVOICE) on the Corpus system. At this time, the only PROVOICE talkgroups appear to be detectives and special ops for CCPD.
