If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Need help with a TKR-850
I am wanting it to do a DQT of 116 and it does not seem to work the same way the way it does when setting a QT. I had it at 107.2 and wanted to change it to DQT of 116 and the only way it seems to work is to set one of the panel buttons to "QT/DQT Enc Disable/Enable" and then program it. When it resets after programming, I have to turn off the red button before it will send the DQT and open the walkie.
It does not seem to work to simply set encode/decode to DQT like QT

My knee-jerk response is that in most KPG's there are two ways to enter the DCS (DQT) code.
First is to click on the arrow in the QT/DQT Encode or Decode box and use the drop-down list to select the Digital 116, which is D116N (or scroll way down further to D116I if the DCS is inverted).
Second method is to manually type in D116N (or D116I).
If you tried it manually and forgot to enter the "D and N" or "D and I" then the software thinks you're typing in a regular CTCSS (QT) tone, which isn't what you want here.
Good luck with it!

I did notice that one repeater had a different check sum 410E and I can't find where I found that again to look at the second repeater.

I have two 850's the second appears to work properly with QDT of 116 (just as expected to work without having to program any front panel buttons

Thanks for the link for the firmware. That was my next question. Do the files explain how to do the upgrade?
Thank you for your help. Do you think that will resolve the problem?

You press and hold either the far left (PF1) or PF6 button (holding it) and power up, should show PG on the display, then using FPRO, upload the firmware.

Try this again. Would you send those links again? It does not seem to want to let me download them.

Or you could sent them direct to: callN2DMR2gmail.com

Now how to find the firmwear version.

The checksum correlates to the version number.

For a firmware change you use FPRO located in the program folder.

fpro.jpg

Put repeater in firmware program mode as stated above. Open FPRO. Browse to firmware file. Set com port. Confirm Baud Rate (115,200 is default when repeater is set to firmware write mode). Hit Write and go get a cup of coffee. When you get back all is golden. Couldn't be simpler.

Thanks for everyone's help. The repeater still has the same problem as before the firmware update. Still must have one of the front buttons set to encode and then turn it off to get it to transmit the DQT. About to give up on the thing.
