• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

So i am an armed security officer. And the motorola Mag one's they give us are junk *just old and beat up*.

So i purchased a Kenwood TK-327G so i can program my job sites frequencies and just use my own... , and i also got the USB to 2 pin programming cable for it.

I downloaded the KPG-56D software that i was told it needed.

Now im at a road block.

first off, when i plug the USB cable into my laptop *running windows 7 64 bit* and then into the unit, it tells me the drivers were not found.

Anyone know where to get these? :)

Second, inside the compressed KPG-56D folder, when i click "install " it opens command prompt and then it instantly closes, which makes sense to me because its a batch file and needs to be run as an admin.

So i open up CP as an admin, then i type start_ then what? When i type Install.bat it tells me it doesnt exist, when i try exe, same thing.

What command do i use to get this thing to install.

I know the software works though DOS. But i cant seem to get it to work at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

officerbigpants, your problem is you have to run that program in either a true DOS or install and run DOSBOX.

You can not run this old of software thru a Windows DOS promt.

If you use a true DOS then you also will not be able to use the USB cable, as true DOS does not support USB.

KPG-56D is a windows prograam.. not DOS

I have no experience with trying it on 64bit O/S's though - may not run.
It runs fine on Win 7 32 bit though
