• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Ok I have almost gotten this down how to program this scanner BCD396xt I think butttttt I went to put in Staley's Communications and I see its DMR Motorola Connect Plus (TRBO) so im asking would it be Motorola Type II SmartZone conventional or ?
TRBO is a Motorola proprietary digital system. No scanners currently support it.

But, if you go to the Digital Voice Decoding Software forum they may have software that you can install on a PC in conjunction with your scanner to decode it. Here's a link:

TRBO is a Motorola proprietary digital system.
Connect Plus and Capacity Plus trunking is Motorola proprietary but plain old TRBO is just DMR which is not proprietary.

Because of that, you can use any vendors DMR capable radio to listen.

No, as previously reported, no scanner will be able to monitor the system.

You either need to use DSD or buy a commercial DMR radio.
