I am desperate to find someone who can install a new display screen on my Realistic Pro-2006. Please, if you can/would I would be happy to pay for the repair.
It no longer lights at all. I guess to answer your question it is the light but thought the issue was the same.is it the display or the 'light' ?
My 35 year-old PRO-2006 is still working with the original backlight. Undoubtedly, keeping it on the dim setting for many years saved it.if my 2004 goes out i would just leave it and second thing would be the lamp thing, quick, easy and you don't have to worry about the radio.
i am sure others will join this post to help even further with it.
I am not sure how what the "voices" reference you made means. I don't have a clue about doing the job. If I did...I would. Hope someone here would take the job.the display is an LCD number/letter thing and the light is behind it.
i have a 2004 and it is up high and i can't see the display from my chair, but i now the voices on it.
so i don't really have to see it.
but that is not for you.
some have put a small lamp with a gooseneck to illuminate it.
and there are some that have posted on how to really fix it.
but i would guess that is also not for you as it is a little bit odd to do.

Pro 2006 green LED backlight & installation instructions
I ordered from Digi-Key Part number 153-1026-ND Mfg part no. Thanks for the advice. I really would like to get it fixed back to new. Thank you so much.My 35 year-old PRO-2006 is still working with the original backlight. Undoubtedly, keeping it on the dim setting for many years saved it.
I want to second WTP's lamp suggestion. If the light on mine were to go out, I would go that route vs a new EL panel. With these radios being as old as they are, I would not want to tempt fate with potentially brittle plastic components and wires/cables that could be broken. Do no harm, so to speak.
No problem! Makes perfect sense. Like you, I would have someone do the repair for me. IMHO, there is a good chance someone here will see your post and take on the job. Thanks for the advice. I really would like to get it fixed back to new. Thank you so much.
