i assume you're looking for chp capitol security frequencies? 460.375 and 460.450.

if you're fixin' to listen during special events, the CHP valley division offices tend to use the blue as well (out 42.34/in 42.18) i reccomend you use the pl tone (valley div. is 179.9) on the blue as well, as it is a statewide channel, so sometimes you'll heard distant transmissions from the bay area and such.

hope that helps!

And if you are a PL junkie like myself the UHF channels generally use 127.3.

PL junkie :) I thought I might have been the only one. Wish everything had PL tones, it would be much easier to identify multi-user frequencies.

I listen to the Capital (can never remember which has the "o", which has the "a") guys on a VERY regular basis.

I have never heard any encryption or (for those that split hairs) anything other than clear communications. 460.375 PL 127.3 is without a doubt the Cap Protection guys. You will hear them checking on all the State buildings downtown.

I'm not sure exactly what's expected of them, but I've heard them at the 99 interchange, and assisted them on a traffic stop at 80/Norwood (they needed a NIK kit, which I happened to have...heard them ask for it over the scanner, so I stopped by). Anyways, point is, that's 100% the right freq.

The only other freq. I've heard them on is 460.45 PL 127.3, but it was hard to tell if it was the Cap guys, or just a CHP Comm Center using those freqs (was quite a while ago, so don't remember the details).

HAHAHA google rocks....

The word capitol has a very specific meaning. A capitol is the building in which a state legislative body meets, or in which the functions of state government are carried out. When capitalized, the word Capitol refers only to the Washington, DC building in which Congress meets. This probably also holds true outside the United States, but what is important is that these definitions refer to buildings.

The word capital, on the other hand, has many meanings. When used as a noun, it may be the city in which a government's capitol is located, or any city that is the center of a specific activity or industry (the financial capital of the world). Capital may also refer to money, often that used to produce additional wealth, to the uppermost part of a supporting column, and to an uppercase letter. If the word capital is used as an adjective, it may relate to something of high quality (a capital idea) or importance (a capital mistake), or to something involving the death penalty (capital punishment).

The two are not, in fact, interchangeable - while confusing the two is a common mistake, it is still incorrect. While any sufficiently frequent misuse of language may eventually become accepted, it still holds true that capitol refers to buildings and capital is for any other use.

CHP "downtown" or Capitol Division or whatever you want to call them.

The 460 freqs are for State Buildings.... keyword is "buildings". This includes outside the state capitol.

856.2625 PL 127.3 is capitol security is primarily INSIDE the state capitol. Obviously they monitor the activity outside the building too but they don't normally send inside security to the outside problems.

460 is easily heard beyond sac county.

The 800 freq, ya gotta be pretty close to downtown.
I can barely get reception on the 800 from inside a building about 4 blocks away from the capitol

PS

Hmm, seems they like to take their 800 freqs and reuse them in their buildings. 855.7125/131.8 is used for their building in Oakland; mainly admin traffic. Normally it's P&R Orange (I think it was either White or Orange I heard IIRC).

Interesting. I live in midtown by the Capital City Freeway and I get that freq. at full-scale (5 bars) on the BC898T. Are you sure you don't have interference from another strong 800 signal in the area?

This is Intercon Security's frequency pair for their Capitol protection division (PL 141.3).

I'm at 7th and G in a cement building - I do have some pretty large buildings between me and the State Cap. We all know how well 800 and buildings get along.
