Neibor CB bleeds through our speakers in our house

However In my house a neighbor using thier CB often bleeds through on various speakers
in our house.
It happened on my LAptop my television AND my living room's desktop speakers.
Im thinking about writting the FCC.
But what evidence would I present to them?

The vast majority of interference complaints the FCC gets are not the fault of the transmitter.

The TV _might_ be his fault. I doubt the laptop is.

I second the idea of talking to him first.

First read the manual for your TV,Laptop ,Scanner.The attaiude of the FCC in interferance is TS.
2nd your speaker wire is acting like an antenna (you need a rf choke on the speaker leads)
3rd is your TV connected to cable / outside antenna ?(you need a lo-pass filter-usually free if you write the
manufactor of your TV.
4th write the laptop manufactor for help ?
Hope this helps,but do work with the CB'er ,that is what the FCC will ask you first.

A stock CB is very unlikely to cause the problem as described and if the neighbor is running a CB with an amplifier that's a legal problem for them. Are you sure its CB or could it be the higher power amateur radio service?
If you have any friends with a CB in their car have them park close to your house and see if that interferes. If so the problem is now yours but if not and the neighbor is actually using a CB then this would be good info to make a case with the FCC.

If a CB'er is getting into all that, it begs the question... How much power is he running? A legal 4 watts is highly unlikely to cause that much stray rf pickup. Are you sure it's a cb'er, and not an amateur? Talk to him and find out. Let him know what's going on.

Your all missing the point, he has approximately 8 foot speaker leads, or an odd multiple in length. Chances are, he(CBer) is legal, but just coupling to the leads. Put a choke with a few turns on each end of the speaker leads and it will correct this issue.

Does the sound, sound like a WaWa or can you actually make out what he is saying? If it's the WaWa type of sound then it's SSB, if not, it will be AM. FM does not modulate speakers. Most likely, if you tune your TV, off air, on to channel 5, you will also have this interference if it's high power. otherwise, it's just coupling to the leads of your speakers.

Does any one remember what 96" is equal to? Shorten or lengthen your speaker leads, see what happens…

Im not sure exactly what neighbor it is.
Even If I did I'm a gal so the fear of assault deters me.
That having been said it only happens when the TV or computer is off.
These are standard cheap plug and play speakers.
And Ive turned on my scanner to confirm that its CB AM
No SSB or anything like that.
Were moving pretty soon to a nicer house so Ill probaly just let it go.
I have to admit though it scared the heck out of me the first couple of times it happened.LOL
I lived ALL through the US of A LOL
and this is THE first time Ive encountered such a problem.
So now at least I have something to tell my kids about lol

Or you could fill your house, porch, and garadge with CFL(swrillys) lights.
And buy 20 Neon Lamps so he couldnt hear a cb radio right next to his.

Ferrite and capacitors would be my first try.

Thats funny my daughter and her neighbors have the same issue with a guy in her bloclk, I told her next time she see's him outside to say something to him. One neighbor already went door to door to see if it was just his house and wanted to report it. But they are all just waiting to see whats going on. Kind of the same deal the TV speakers, stereo speakers and even the alarm clock speakers. From the outside the guy has a very nice setup.

I have several amplified computer speakers and approximately 8ft speaker leads on my stereo and I can run 1200w on 10m or any other amateur band without a peep from my speakers or my neighbors. I don't really care if someone runs a million watts on CB as long as they don't cause interference to other services. If someone is running an amplifier on CB and causing another person harm then it should be killed or fined.

Im not sure exactly what neighbor it is.

Drive around your neighborhood and look for any antennas other than TV antennas on the roofs. That should narrow it down unless the guy is using a mobile antenna..

my experience

I had a neighbor who had an old TV and was complaing that I was coming through his TV when the Tv was OFF!
Obviously there was some coupleing going on and it was NOT my fault. But nothing I said would convince him of that.

But I then found out this neighbor had a terminal illness. I went off the air for a few months until he died. I had the "right" to go on with my hobby but did not want to stress out a guy who was dying.
