This will be interesting. I have always been impressed with the service that WCC offers... but I do know there are always some advantages to being on a local dispatch. For NB in particular, this will be a good wake up call... NB is just so sloppy on the radio. 10 codes on fire, they fail to use their 4 digit number when communicating to wcc on mutual aid events. up until recently, they didnt play well with others on the fire side of things. time will tell

Anyone know how NB will be merged in with WCC? I don't particularly listen to WCC since there is usually so much going on in areas I don't listen to (I usually only listen to NB). I'm curious if they will have their own area (such as Area 5) or if NB will be merged in on one of the existing Areas?

There is talk of moving NB to Area 2, along with Town of Brookfield joining them. Then moving V/Pewaukee to Area 3 with the other LACS departments. Also unpatching Area 2 and Area 3

I spoke with an officer at NBPD today and was given an update. Effective July 1st, WCC will take over dispatching 3rd shift (10:45pm - 6:45am) for NBPD. NBPD dispatchers will continue to dispatch 1st and 2nd shift through the end of the year, unless more personnel changes occur (NBPD lost a few dispatchers as soon as the common council made the decision last week).

He also stated he thought they would be dispatched with Chenequa PD (Area 3), and their prefix would be "E" (for example, NBPD third shift Sergeant would be E310). None of this is set in stone yet, but I guess we'll find out in less than 2 weeks.

you are totally correct, recently ive been hearing on the newberlin
(Dipsatch A-1) i think? that they have been using the call sign "Echo" (E) yet i havent heard anything on WCC with them on third shift? as far as the Town of Brookfeild moving i wouldnt think they would, they work fine on the Area 1 Dispatch channel with Brookfeild and butler, and i couldnt see them moving to Area2 Or Area3. I do think that newberlin will have a better time with dispatching because there is allways confusin between them and WCC or units that run on WCC

Correct, NBPD began using the prefix Echo on 6/21. Third shift dispatching through WCC will begin on July 1st (next Sunday) tentatively.

Starting Saturday night, Wcc will be dispatching NBPD on there own tg/8304. NBFD traffic will only be on WCC Fire Dispatch A. NBFD advised that they do not have Fire Dispatch B or Dispatch C in there radios to contact Wcc

I'm serious when I say that planning is fast becoming a lost art. They new the switch was going to take place and they don't even have all of the needed talkgroups in place? I thought these radio's are easliy programmed. I hope it all works out but I guess it just made way to much sense to leave things the way they were. New Berlin is a big enough community to justify their own system but in the era of cost cutting it made a case for this. They would rather spend money for nonsense so public safety gets cut first. Very sad.

I agree!!! I know a New Berlin Police officer and and he is actually worried about his safety because he doesn't trust WCC Dispatchers. Another thing is that New Berlin PD uses Phoenix software for there Computer Aided Dispatch and also on the wireless computers in there squad cars and WCC uses a system called intergraph which just went live a couple of weeks ago and they are still working out issues with that. I was a former reserve officer with the City of Waukesha Police department and we used phoenix software package and it was very nice and had no issues. I think New Berlin is taking a step back words with consolidating there dispatch center with WCC

Um, what?

So when Disp A is busy and traffic needs to move off on to Disp B or C, then what is NBFD going to do?

Were they planning on a template change soon, or just winging it?

In the past when WCC Fire Dispatch A is getting extremely busy, WCC will split traffic on Fire Dispatch A and Dispatch B. They have used I94 as the divider line. Depts in north use A and Depts in south use B

Sounds like they need to think outside of the New Berlin box for once. They have all the room to put B and C in, why they chose not to is just plain dumb.
