If this is the track you are talking about, that is a spur line that runs from roughly from I-894 and ends in east end of the City of Waukesha. I've walked that path many times that runs paralell to this track with the scanner and the frequency that came up was 160.890(UNION PACIFIC) this line is called the Waukesha spur. I did hear traffic for this on one of the other UP freqs.so you may want to add 160.485 and 161.040 as they often change these. That path is nice to walk on but Red Wing Blackbirds can be mean this time of the year.

You can check GOOGLE maps for yourself and see but it does appear that the line I speak of is the only one in New Berlin. To only way to be sure is to search the rail band.

Crabby,

Do you know much about this spur? I remember when it ran through Waukesha and hooked up with two other lines probbly 10 or more years ago ( I was maybe 12 years old and used to watch trains go by then) But since they removed much of the track and made it a "spur", I see little to non traffic on it. Any idea on what/if any one still uses this line?

This line ends on the east side of the city of Waukesha. In fact I work near where the track comes to an end. I too remember when this line was still connected to a line further west but they discontined in as you said about 10 or more years ago and removed the tracks. The line is still used as there are still businesses along the line that use it. Our plant uses it from time to time but I don't recall anything recent.

I actually work on Pearl St, Which is why i was inquiring on the tracks! I even remember when you could take the spur all the way to international, it crossed Arcadian and then Main street! Miss those tracks...

Wow I don't live to far from there. The last time I saw a real working train on the UP tracks that go along the New Berlin Rec Trail which I ride my bike on a lot was last year. I know tank cars used to be delivered to Cooper Power Systems off Lincoln Ave. in Waukesha and then also occasionally a boxcar to Central Supply Co‎. warehouse off Pearl St. in Waukesha. I am not sure if they are now using trucks now to get material now.

I actually work at COOPER and like I said, I don't think we have had a tank car in that bay all year. Years ago, we used to ship units via rail but customers wanted them faster than the railroad could deliver them we wisely only ship via truck now. I remember back in the late 90's or early 00's, before the track was removed from the west, the circus train came thru. l was doing a run at the time but I was told that there were scores of people watching along the line. Getting back to radio now in that the bottom line is taht if you happen to see rail traffic on that line, just search the railband and you are likely to pick something up in short order.
