The new Kenwood mobile load out for 2008 fire season is out.

I haven't had time to go through it in detail, but it looks like a lot of changes this year.

Mostly narrow band revisions and a LOT Of federal revisions to NPS and Forest
Service.

Lots of DPL popping up as well.

CESRS is definitely the "official" California travel channel for upcoming fire season.

More when I have time.

I haven't even gotten mine yet through work!!!

Can you post it, or a link to it? I can get a head start programming my Kenwood for this season.

OK, it's been sanitized a bit.

I removed the transmit frequencies and tones.

Looks like most of the Federal changes were transmit frequencies.

RX looks almost the same as last year.

What model Kenwood are they using? If TK-790 does anyone have the file?

EdT

We use TK-790's, but they are a modified version with 254 channels, special features not available on production models, and use a special version of the software to program. The freq file from ours probably won't work to program a stock 160-channel (although I'm going to try to modify it for my '160' when I finally get our local freq load).

Is it just me or does this look just like the same load from last year? I have v7c from last year, this is v7d. Shouldn't the new one be v8x?

I heard that the 2008 load won't be ready for about a month or so??????????

That is exactly what I heard, for a source within the CalFire. Perhaps it is an early release for a specific unit.

Yep, the latest revision from DGS just came out.

I will sanitize and upload when it's available.

Apparently this was a winter load. The 08 fire season load will change.

Also they are going all narrow band by 2010, including the local nets and voice pagers.

Mountain top installation is going slower than anticipated.

Minitor pagers currently in use won't be compatible.

There goes another $500.

Roger that... I spent about a month in late Nov/early December going around the county collecting Minitor III's and IV's, and issuing new Min V's to all the volunteer companies. The V's were purchased on a grant to prepare for narrowbanding in our unit. We got lucky that we are able to get some of this stuff done before 2010.

We're doing a regional grant, but rumor is that the FEd grant funds will be cut by half again this year.

What model Minitor V ?

We have some folks that just bought V's and they are not narrow band compatible, and will have to repurchase AGAIN.

Brian we won't know until the load out is released.

I'm looking for the statewide program and this is just for one county. Does anyone know where I can get the statewide list?

Smokey,

I haven't gotten ours yet, but when I see it, I'll post the Group 3 (statewide load) stuff for you.

I don't remember which version it was, but they are two-channel, non-stored voice, and confirmed narrow-band capable. Our DGS tech did some testing with them before we issued them, because we have a couple of volunteer companies in areas with coverage problems.

I had it all along! Duuuuuuh! I forgot to look down to the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet where I could select Group 3. Talk about embarrassing. Somebody generously sent me a PM to explain that I hadn't looked at the spreadsheet thoroughly. Reminds me of frantically looking for my sunglasses for 2-3 minutes as I'm about to go out the front door and having my wife point out to me that they are in my hand!

I guess I'm tech'ed out this week. I've been writing my first PSR-600 program and trying to learn how to operate it as well. I'm getting it now, but boy have I been spinning some wheels in the meantime.
