Excuse me for adding a very good competitive charger which can do about the same regarding charging/refreshing/discharging. Cost is $39.99 including shipping. Includes 4 2400 mAh AA and 4 800 AAA mAh batts plus C & D charging adapters and carrying case.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00077AA5Q/102-9849157-8116101

BTW, I refreshed some 3 1/2 year old 1600 AA mAh Radio Shack Batts and they appear to be working like new.

I have one of these and love it! It's worth every penny. I have recycled over 20 AAs and found the ones that were shot so I could discard them and keep the good ones. It also has rejuvenated several that I thought were beyond redemption! This is the only charger you will ever need for your NIMH batteries!

I don't think any company can compate to MAHA for recharges, and their 2700 mah batteries are top notch. I use their 8 battery charger that permits you to charge from 1 to 8 batteries at a time, and has the ability to recondition if you desire. I have more than a dozen batteries, and just fill the charger up a couple of times a week and keep my batteries all charged and ready to go. I never recharge a battery in a scanner. I have an Icom 2 meter handheld that uses 8 AA batteries and recharge the batteries for it about every two weeks.

Frank,

Can you charge one battery or two, or do you have to fill the slots? The description at Amazon leaves a few details out.

I must admit that MAHA looks really nice.

1, 2, 3, or 4. If two are used, they can be in slot 1 & 4 or 2 & 3, which gives other options on charging choices. I should have added, trickle charge can be used also.
Instructions Manual may be downloaded from here.

Actually I think you can generally use any combination of the slots on the LaCrosse and each slot can do a different type of charge, all at the same time. The only limitation, if I remember right, is that appiles for charge currents up to 1000mA. Above that you can only use 1 and 4, I believe.

has anyone that has the LaCrosse charger used the included batteries, and if so, how did they work?

I see the reviews on their batteries are less than stellar.

I ordered the charger, and almost ordered additional AA's until I saw the crappy reviews.

maha charger...

I have this charger. I have had it for about 1 month. It's a wonderful charger. All slots are independant and can be programed to do anything in any slot at the same time. I am also using the GP brand batteries.(the same as the ones that come with a bcd396t). I got the 2700 MAh. version. I bought 12 batteries and matched them using the charger. On the best set,I can get almost 12 hrs of continuous runtime (bcd396t) and most of that time with the backlight on. Both the batteries and the charger get my high recommendation. Aside from performance, this charger is just a cool piece of equipment. It's very good looking.

Here's where they came from.....http://www.greenbatteries.com

This is a good company as well. No problems. Arrived as promised on time...

I've got the ones that came with the charger. The 800 mAh AAAs setteled out at 720-800 mAh. The 2400 AAs settled out at 2420 to 2520 mAh. I haven't used the AAAs at all. The AAs have been used a bit in my camera. They seem OK but seem to self discharge quite a bit. I haven't used enough yet to say for sure.

Got the LaCross today. I'm very impressed with it. Seems to be working fine and is charging some batts right now. Nice digital display for each position. I havn't seen a better value yet. Charger, C & D adapters, 8 batteries, carrying case and free shipping all for $40.

Beaver seal of approval on this one.

Hey Ray,

The La Cross also tests/analyzes batteries.

Yes the MAHA's are very units but they cost more than twice as much as the La Cross's do.
