Hey Guys

I've been noticeing lately when listening to the DNR units they now have a new number system as well as now calling themselves "NRP" instead of DNR. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

Chad Since I'm off today I'll check that out since I have the DNR programmed in my Pro 106 and maybe I might notice that "NRP" and numbering system if anyone is talking.

I read somewhere awhile back that they are supposedly changing their title to "Natural Resources Police" .

Noticed it here in Berkeley/Jefferson too. I think they kept their unit numbers. Does this mean they will actual do something and serve a purpose? No, wait, I forgot we're talking about WV.

From a DNR, I mean NRP officer I know, they are doing this switch to help ease confusion with the public. Around here when a DNR person stopped someone for a traffic violation, there have been cases of them driving off when they ID themselves as DNR. Some of the general public dont know that they have regular LE powers.

They have always had the same law enforcement powers as the WVSP...Most likely a DNR leadership decision has them out doing MVV work now.

If you are that stupid as to drive off from a traffic stop....Well lets just say...don't be surprised as what you receive in the end...LMMFAO

Yeah....hahaha

This was from a new guy I know. A longer time NRP officer I know that stops by my station all the time said it is because of grants. Having the "Police" in their name will allow them to get more grants and $$$ in turn.
